Can I create moving gradient waves in After Effects?

Hi everyone,

I'm slowly learning my way around After Effects and I was wondering if it's possible to create a gradient wave, like in the picture, but have it move and undulate. I've searched online for tutorials but I don't seem to have the right words to describe it (gradient wave, gradient filament etc).

Any pointers for finding out how to create this would be greatly appreciated!
