Hello!

I got a problem with airdropping After Effects project to my iPhone. When i airdrop it a message appears on my iPhone screen: ''Failed to save item. Save to iCloud Drive instead?'' I think it's a problem with After Effects but i'm not sure. Can someone help me please?

Thanks, Charlotte

Actually, you should absolutely be able to do the transfer without an issue. I just did. When you share a .aep file using Airdrop on a Mac and the click on your phone, it should let you immediately send it to your Files app, where you can then choose any cloud service you use such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. I just tried it with all three without an issue. But yes, of course as everyone else said, this is merely transferring the data file and you can't do anything with it unless it syncs to another computer with AE on it. What iOS are you running and do you have any cloud storage service set up?

I've tried with Documents by Readdle and now when i movie it in iCloud Drive it there's an option where i can transfer it to an app, which in this case i chose the app ''Documents by Readdle''. I did the exact same thing as i did before, i pressed on the option to move the video to my camera roll but this time there was no option and i don't know what to do, anyways it's a bit hard to explain, you should try the app so you can understand what i mean!

I don't use the Readdle app.  Why don't you just use the built in Files app?  You've already demonstrated that the phone asks you to do it that way.

What is your actual goal here, just to move the file between computers?  Would it be easier to just use a thumb drive?

You might get better responses if you explain specifically what you are trying to do.

As described above, iOS doesn't recognise an .aep file because there are no apps in iOS that can use it.

If your goal is simply to move the file to another using the phone, essentially like a portable hard drive, store it in iCloud when prompted, or use the built in Files app, or a third party storage app like Dropbox.

Yes, it's an operating system thing.  And you should be glad it is!

People run two 20-inch monitors for AE, and it's STILL easy to run out monitor real estate!

I can not imagine what it would be like to use AE on a little pea-shooter iPhone screen.  The very prospect makes my skin crawl.

i don't think it's a AE issue, it must be a iOS issue, anyway since there are no application can read the AE file on iOS so try to zip your file then send it to your iPhone.
