Can't find my saved file - After Effects

Hi,

I was using a my new work laptop and opened After Effects for the first time. When I created a new project and started working, I only clicked 'save' and not 'save as' - as that option was not working at the time. I began having an issue where clicking 'location' in render was not working either. So I closed the program and it confirmed if I wanted to save my 'Untitled Project'. I clicked 'yes' and was going to reopen the project to fix these issues. However, when I looked in the Applications folder (I'm a mac user) my project file was not there.

I have now tried to search all over my computer for the Untitled Project but cannot find it anywhere. Could somebody assist in helping me as I have lost 3 hours of work!

If the project doesn't appear in File > Open Recent within After Effects, use Finder to search your hard drive for aep projects.

    Hi, we welcome you to the adobe community,

    I understand your issue, you have saved your AE file but when you try to open or search it was not there .

    so, I think there are few ways to find your saved file if only you "Saved it "

    1. aftereffect file saved in format Aep format. you can search in the search box mostly inside the document folder 

    2. I use to do this trick. so you have to open another empty project and just go to save as an option and simply check for any aftereffect file there . if you found it just copy the location and then go there and pasted it in your preferred location.

    tell me if it works for you also it will be useful for our experts to answer you more "technically" if you share your pc spec, the aftereffect version
