Question

can't find tracker option

Hey guys,

I'm so so new to Ae. Just installed a couple of hours ago, and I'm trying to do the motion stabilization effect, but all I see as options/tabs is Preview, Properties, Align, and Effects & Presets. The "Tracker" option (the stabilization effect should be under this tab) is just not there. Can anyone please help me?

The footage I uploaded is not landscape, it's portrait. Don't know/think that makes a difference, but LMK!!

After Effects’ Tracker panel might not be visible by default, but you can enable it easily. Try these steps:

  1. Open the Tracker Panel:

    • Go to Window in the top menu.
    • Look for Tracker and click on it.
  2. Check Your Workspace Layout:

    • If you’re using a custom workspace, reset it by going to Window > Workspace > Default.
  3. Use the Warp Stabilizer Instead:

    • If you're trying to stabilize footage, you can also use Warp Stabilizer:
      • Select your clip in the timeline.
      • Go to Effects & Presets and search for Warp Stabilizer.

Drag and drop it onto your clip.

Explore the workspaces. The Learn workspace (under the Window menu or on the Tool Bar) is a great place to start learning the UI, The Motion Tracking Workspace is the best place to start learning about AE's built-in Tracker options—same thing for Color, Animation, Paint, and many other tasks. Using workspaces saves time, helps automate getting to the right panel, and helps you learn. You also need to become very familiar with and use the Search Help field in the top right corner of AE. It takes an experienced NLE editor about 100 hours to become proficient with AE's UI and the proper workflow. It is also important to understand that After Effects is not a video editing app used to make movies. It is for making shots that include motion graphics, visual effects, animation, and composites that you cannot create in an NLE like Premiere Pro.

You have a lot of options to stabilize footage. Follow one of this steps:

- Window > Tracker. You can use the Stabilize Motion option.

- Animation > Warp Stabilizer VFX

- Animation > Track in BorisFX Mocha.

Mocha requires some aditional stpes as you must track the footage and then apply the inverted translation analysis to stabilize your footage.

'The recent update changed the list on my "Window" Menu bar and the Tracker option isn't there, do you perhaps know how may I find it?
