Question

Can't link sequences between PP and AE

1. I imported a PP nested sequence into AE.

2. Did all my edits and then import that AE composition back into premiere.

3. I did this instead of "Replace with AE Comp"  in order to have color grading flexibility.

Since i did that premiere pro can't load AE comps at all most of the times, or when it does, when i try importing the one composition i mentioned above it freezes. Also i cant open this specific AE project at all, not even in Safe mode. Ive reset preferences but it didnt work. Is this a buggy way to use dynamic link or could it be something else.

Premiere Pro 24.6.1

After Effects 24.6.2

Macos Sonoma 14.1.1

It is definitely more complex than using "Replace with AE Comp." I think having 2 layers of Dynamic Link is what makes it slow. Can you try the "Replace with AE Comp" on the same project and footage and see if that brings any change?

Let us know the outcome. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

I deleted the "faulty" comp and tried "replace with Ae comp". It created the composition, but when i made a change i could render it or see it in the Premiere timeline. It wouldnt load at all, not a single frame. After that i realised the AE comps inside of Premiere loaded only when they were already open in AE. Comp that were not open before starting Premiere dont load. If i try to load another comp or attempt to link media it freezes , even if i open the AE project before attempting to load.

Sorry for the delayed response. It shouldn't happen. Can you test it on a new project (Premiere Pro and After Effects) and see if it's happening with a specific project? If it's all the projects, try resetting the preferences of After Effects and Premiere Pro.

Let us know the results.

Thanks,
