Question

Can't uninstall Particular, getting a warning message on startup

I recently upgraded to a Mac with an M4 Max chip, and transferred my old mac over. I have an old version of Particular, which I know won't work on this machine.

Every time I start up AE, I get a warning message that particular has failed to load. I have no idea how to get rid of this message.

Other threads have suggested deleting things from the following locations:

/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/Trapcode

/Applications/Adobe After Effects 2025/Plug-ins/Format/Trapcode

I've checked both of these, and these folders don't exist- I can't find any folders relating to Particular on my machine. I've tried reinstalling After Effects, no luck. Can anyone help?

Sorry to hear that you're not able to open After Effects. We're here to help.

There are two different libraries in macOS. To ensure that you go to the correct folder, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Finder, click on GO in the menu bar and select Go to folder.

2. Type in "/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore"

See if you can find the plug-in folder. Any file or folder (except dummy.txt) inside MediaCore belongs to a plug-in. So, if you'd like, you can move all of them (if there are any) to a different place and see if that helps with the After Effects launch. If it doesn't, you can put them back.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Thanks Nishu!

I am able to open after effects, I just get the annoying pop up as it's opening. Once I close it, After Effects continues to open as usual.

I've checked that folder, the only thing in there relates to a MisterHorse plugin (I tried moving that, no difference)

I see! Looks like others are getting this issue as well. The plug-in manufacturer is aware of the issue. Check out this thread: https://adobe.ly/4lsY28U

Maybe this article could help: https://adobe.ly/40gcys9
