Can’t use more that 1gb of ram.

So basically im using after effects 2020 and i have 16gb installed on my computer but ae can only go up to using 1gb. And of course i have issue's editing all the time. Especially the slowness/not rendering. Ive done the whole change ram thing and i dont want to upgrade my after effects. So what do i do? Like how can i give it more than what its taking?

    The only value you can edit is the amount of RAM available to other applications. Set that to 4GB, and Adobe apps should get 12 GB. If that is not the case, please take a screenshot and drag it to the reply field instead of uploading it so we can see it without downloading it.
