Cannot import MOV file into the specific project

Hello there.

Here's the problem, yesterday I was working in a project in 24.0.3 version of AE and all was fine.
Today I opened same project on the same PC and got ERROR imprting MOV files.

"CANNOT READ FROM SOURCE" "UNSOPPORTED COMPRESSION" etc.

HOWEVER, if I import SAME mov files in the NEW project all works like a charm

Any advice?

So here's the workaround.

I moved files in the different folders and suddenly it worked, dunno why it refused to read files from the old folder it was linked with Creative Cloud and everything worked one day but refused to read from it on another.

Thank you for sharing what worked for you.

How are you organizing your projects?  I always have a folder for that contains the After Effects project file and all of the source footage being used.  As long as this folder that contains everything is located someplace with full read and write access, supported source footage files should always link and work as expected - even if the folder is moved to a different location later.  There's flexibility in how the files are further organized within that folder.  At the very minimum, I'd create a sub-folder called "Source Footage" (and move any source footage inside that folder prior to importing it into a project) and save the After Effects project file just outside of that.

Same routine here, a new folder for a project with sub folders for footage.

let's say files were "ink_01" "ink_02" etc and all was fine until one day it wasn't

AE had no problem reading "ink_02" or "ink_04" from the same folder but refused to import "ink_01" "ink_03" etc. But by moving files to a different folder and replacing files in the AE it worked. Dunno what was the problem.

Try importing the other project into a new project as well.

So, open After Effects 24.0.3 and choose File > Import..., but instead of selecting the MOV file, select the other AEP file.

What are the settings for the MOV?  For example, 2160p 23.976 ProRes 422 HQ or 1080p 29.97 DNxHD.
