Question

Cant add filter onto 3D Objects

I think it would be more efficient to be able to add filter and color correction right on the 3D object itself instead of on the composition. I tried to add a couple of filters onto my imported 3D object and they just weren't taking.

If this isn't something that will be on the way. I think it would be beneficial to add. For example, I was not able to mask out a 3D object. (If anyone has help on that please inform me) and I had an issue turning down the opacity on 3D objects.

I feel like the feature is good but I know with more testing it can be something great and easy to use.

The one thing we can agree is that it would be useful to have effects directly on 3D textures, but the rest is way too vague and doesn't make a lot of sense. Lowering the opacity on a 3D object equates to increasing the transparency of the material for instance. The rest you have to explain and illustrate with screenshots. What does "Iwas not able to mask out a 3D object" even mean? What were you doing or trying to achieve? What didn't work. You need to be much more specific.

I tried out the 3D feature for a class project; I wasn't really looking for assistance. I was unable to mask out a 3D object when I said that. I did intend that. I was trying to figure out a way to hide a 3D object for a while and then reveal it later. I would advise you to consider how lower thirds enter and exit the frame. You can temporarily hide the text layer when creating a lower third by using a mask. Another thing I attempted to add directly to my 3D object was opacity because I wanted it to fade in at the beginning of the video. I couldn't do it the simple way, but by pre-composing all of my 3D models and changing the opacity on the pre-comp, I was able to get what I wanted.

So honestly everyday tools might not work on imported 3d objects directly - so you have to work around it.

If this was unclear, I apologize.
