I'm trying to add a mask to an adjustment layer then use track matte on my clip. For some reason when I go to click on the track matte for my clip to apply the adjustment layer it's grayed out & wont let me pick it. Any reason why that's happening? Any way to solve this? Sorry if thats confusing

Track Mattes must have pixels. Adjustment layers do not have pixels. You have to turn off the Adjustment Layer switch to use a layer as a track matte. You should only be using Adjustment layers to add effects like a color correction to a bunch of layers. If you need to have one track matte for a bunch of layers, AE 23 can do that. If you are using AE 22 or earlier, the simplest option would be to create a pre-comp from all the layers that need the matte applied and then just use a mask or a simple Track Matte for the Nested comp (pre-comp).
