Character panel doesn't update when text is selected since last update

Is anyone having this problem since the last AE update?  When I select and highlight text in the Comp window, the Character panel no longer updates to show what font it is, whether it's Light, Bold or Regular, etc., or what the point size is.  It seems to be just "stuck" on whenever setting I last applied to another text object.  For example, if I select some text and set the font to, for example, Helvetica Bold 50 pt, then I select and highlight some text that I know to be Helvetica Light 24 pt, the Character panel will still say Helvetica Bold, and 50 pt.  Any suggestions welcome!  Thank you!
Update:  I just noticed there were two instances of the Paragraph panel and two instances of the Character panel open.  I think that's a bug... I closed one instance of the Character panel, and both disappeared.  I closed one instance of the Paragraph panel and the other stayed open.  Then I opened the Character panel again and now it's working correctly.  I'm on Windows 10 64-bit, AE 2023.1.0 (Build 83).
