Cinema 4D Lite - AI Import - Illustrator colors

Hello all,

I am working with a clients AI file that has their color scheme. I am trying to import this file into Conema 4D lite vers 26. When I bring it in, it defaults to a gray material and doesn't load their colors as a material. I have seen a few tutorials where they import an AI in and the materials are automatically imported. is there something I'm doing wrong on import? Is it a lite version issue?
