Cineware 2025

Hallo,

I have installed last version of Maxon Cinema4D 2025, I got latest version of After Effects 2024 and even beta 2025 on my machine. When I try to load or create c4d file, afx says there is no cinema4D 2024. Is there a way to change path somewhere or do I have to wait for adobe plugin update cineware 2025 ? Is it even planed ?

Thank you.

I have the same issue. Cannot get the Cinema4D renderer to work in my After Effects, despite uninstalling and re-installing After Effects with C4D add-on, and despite downloading C4D 2024 seperately which I read somewhere might help. Thanks, Adobe...

I had the same issue as you, and the only way I got it working was by deleting the After Effects folder after uninstalling it, and restarting my computer. A fresh install of After Effects with the C4D add-on got everything working again on my Mac, not sure it if works on Windows as well.

Thanks for the tip, I re-installed AE 2024 and there I could get it to work.

I believe Adobe hasn't updated the Cineware version that ships with After Effects yet. Maxon released the 2025 versions of Cineware and Cinema 4D at the same time, but until Adobe updates their version, we are stuck with the ridiculous workaround of having to keep 2 versions of Cinema 4D installed.

If you're having issues, simply uninstall After Effects and delete any folders related to the software. Then re-install the latest version of After Effects again, and during the installation, when prompted to install Cinema 4D 2024, make sure to accept and continue with the install process (I tried installing Cinema 4D 2024 without uninstalling After Effects, but that didn't work).

You'll now have 2 versions of Cinema 4D installed, but at least Cineware will work properly again (even with files from Cinema 4D 2025).

And keep poking at Adobe regarding this issue until they do something about it - it's been over 2 months since the launch of Cinema 4D 2025. This is a professional software that thousands of companies and individuals depend on (and pay) for their daily work. They should be prioritizing issues like this instead of trying to shove AI everywhere.

quick hot fix until its officially fixed:

install the 2024 C4D version and work with that.
(Just to be able to finish or set up current projects)

I'm having this issue as well. I can't open no longer open .c4d files even with the 2025 extension installed. It is like it isn't reading the path from the newer installed version of Cineware.

OMG..  what is this now. Help!!

also installed AE2025 and Cinema 2025! Can't import C4d files!

amazing this :((

Anyhow just use the AEC plugin and export AEC file from Cinema! it's much better than using CineWare imo!

Keyframe data is much more accurate.

Same issue as well.

Already tried unninstalling and reinstalling AE multiple times. Tried the Beta as well.

I'm using Cinema 4D version 2025.0.2 from Maxon. After Effects keeps saying that version 2024 needs to be installed, which doesn't make sense because Cineware has already been updated to 2025.

Is the error coming from the MAXON APP?
Note that MAXON has indicated there's a version recognition issue with their latest license software, they want you to stay either "all new" or "all legacy"

I installed and update Cinema 4D directly from Maxon's app, so I assume this version is not part of their "legacy" software.

The error is coming from AE when I try to import a C4D file - I get the same message as previously shared, saying that I need to have Cinema 4D 2024 installed in my system.

As for the issue at hand, I was able to find a workaround after uninstalling After Effects, deleting every folder I had on my Mac that was associated with the software, restarting the computer, and re-installing After Effects with the optional Cinema 4D 2024 Lite add-on (enabling this after the installation does not seem to fix the issue).

The problem with this is that now I have both the 2025 version from Maxon, and the 2024 version supplied by Adobe (which I don't need for anything else besides ensuring that Cineware works).

Is there some sort of compatibility issue here that might be causing this? Shouldn't After Effects be compatible with Cinema 4D 2025 and be able to verify that it is already installed in my system?

Same issue here. Both C4D and AE are updated to the latest versions. When I try to import a .c4d file into AE, I get this error.

Are you running a licensed version of C4D, or are you using the LITE version? (the maxon (licensing) app has updated recently too)

I am running licensed version of Maxon One, so I would like to use C4d 20205 (not the Lite), both Cinema and Maxon app are updated to latest version, AE aswell
