Cineware in AE 2023+ is horribly slow and unusable

I often need to bring in cameras, nulls etc from C4D into AE to work on scenes. In AE 2022 and older, Cineware worked perfectly. I could bring in a C4D file, extract the 3D data within a second or two, and move on.

In AE 2023, Cineware now sits there and thinks about my files, often for 5-15 minutes. If I bring the same C4D file into AE 2022 and it processes it in literally 1 second. I even strip down my scene to just the objects I need (eg: an animated camera and a null or two), and the same thing still happens. There's barely anything in the scene for AE to think about.

The delay happens when I create a comp from the C4D file. Any fixes for this, other than just using AE 2022? Thanks.
