Circular Gradient Mask

Hey, i dont really know how to explain this but im looking to make it so the video i have will have a circualr gradient where its 100% opacity in the middle and then slowly goes down to 0 so you can see whats playing behind it. This isnt a fade over time like thats how it will look for any singular frame. I was thinking it would have something to do with masking but was wondering if anyone knew how to do it or had some videos showing how its done

Thanks

I would use a shape layer with a radial gradient. You can edit the opacity as well as color in s shape layer gradients. This is an example of a rectangle filled with a shape layer gradient with 3 different opacity settings and the center of the radial in the upper left corner of the rectangle:

You can even add multiple gradients to a single shape and combine them with blend modes to create all kinds of fills.

You can do it using an ellipse mask over the layer. Masks have a parameter called Feather to create a gradient from 100% to 0%. You can also do it using a simple shape layer with an ellipse, add a Gaussian Blur Effect to control the feathering and use this layer as a matte for the layer you want to mask.
