Collect AE Projects in the Background

It's a simple request really - to Collect AE Projects in the Background so that a workstation is not locked up.

Currently when you Collect a project you have to sit through the process bar and all work stops. This just isn't feasable on tight deadlines where both Deliverble files and Ae Collects are needed similtaneously.

I would imagine this would just be a standard setting that just informs you that the collect is complete with an option to open project if required.

It would also make sense you could add a collect to a queue, so that you can line one up after the other. So that they maybe completed out of hours without the need for Artist time.

Sure, things can always change. It's just currently not possible or else you no doubt would have heard of a script or something that does this. 😉

True, although Adobe should not rely on third part scripts/plugins for core feature development. They obviously have not seen the worth in developing this aspect of the app.

Collecting in the background might prove difficult, since that's one of those things - files get locked and AE also needs to have the project open to understand its structure. Collecting it automatically when the machine isn't used on the other hand would certainly be welcome, especially for large projects with many assets that take their sweet time to collect.

Difficult but not impossible right. You could have a tick box and log,  for any files that it needs to skip because they are locked etc. Its  amassive win for those who have to send projects.
