Color picker in Layer-panel doesn't pick color correctly

Hi all,

Who else is facing this problem in After Effects CC15.0.0 (Build 180)? Short summary of what you'll see:

1. Create a shape rectangle with random color

2. Create another shape rectangle with another random color

3. Color pick the color from rectangle 1 of retactangle 2 in the layer-panel

4. You'll notice there is a difference between the two

5. Color pick the color from rectangle 1 of rectangle 2 in the composition-panel

6. You'll notice the colors correspondent with eachother.

Somebody got a fix? I use color picker in the Layer-panel a lot!

I too have the same issue. One easy / dumb fix is, delete the fill color for that shape and apply new fill color. Then you can pick the right color.

Problem disappeared for a while, but it's back... And it's a little bit worse then before; now all the colors aren't picked correctly... Please, fix this because it's driving me nuts...

That's pretty weird. It's clear from you video that AE is NOT picking the color correctly.

Does ILJIs workaround work?

You should all file bug reports for sure.

I'm using the latest v of AE v15.0.1(build73) on Windows 10 and I do not have this issue.

You should file a bug report and send them that video.

This is happening to me too, and it's driving me BONKERS.

It works fine when color picking a Solid's color, but for some reason Shape color picking is way off.

Make sure the info panel is open so you can see the color values. Create two different shape layers with completely different colors so that one overlaps the other, press the U key twice to reveal all modified properties so you can see the modified properties. Now use the color sampler tool in the timeline or double-click the color swatch in the timeline and use the color sampler tool in the Color Panel to sample the color. When you are finished move the selection tool (v) between the two shape layers and check the info panel for color values. On OSX 10.13.3 and CC 2018 and CC 2015.3 - current builds for both, everything is perfect.

Make sure your version of AE is up to date and if you still see a problem file a bug report giving your system specifications including GPU details, your version of AE and a detailed workflow so the problem can be addressed.

Yeah, I know that issue as well. A work around in the layer panel is to select the color property (click on the name "color") and copy it to the clipboard (cmd+c), select the other color property and paste it to it(cmd+v). Cheers.
