Composition jumps to complete black

Are you using Essential Properties or anything else that would allow you to control the visibility of the pre-comp from the comp in your screen recording? If not, perhaps you have cached render files from when there was black, hence the green render bar. Try going to Edit > Purge > All Cache to see if your comp reappears after the cached files are cleared.
