Composition panel freezes and program stops responding

Hi

I'm a new user to Adobe After Effects. I downloaded the free trial version about a month ago and started learning the basics. Then I signed up for the paid subscription and had to attend to other things until I came back to start working in AE. From what I can remember things worked fine just one month ago but now it's a mess. Since I'm new to the program I can't say for sure what features are missing and what is simply part of the program being difficult to handle for a newbie. But these are some of the weird things I experience:

- I can create a composition and add images and solids to it. But often when I do the composition panel doesn't show anything. I cant see the borders of the video area or any of the items added to the composition. If I try to draw a mask on top of it it appears in the list of items in the timeline panel but nothing is displayed in the video area.

- Other times I do succeed in creating the composition and I can add a few solids and masks. But after a while it is as if the composition panel freezes. I cant select objects by clicking on them in the composition panel and if I delete them (by selecting them in the timeline panel) the composition panel stays the same. After this the composition panel wont change anymore. Even if I create new compositions the origninal one keeps being displayed.

- When I select certain commands from the top menu I get the spinning wheel and have to use the task manager to shut AE down. This happens for instance when I tried to preview, when I try to import a video or when I try to quit the program.

As you can understand it is impossible to get anything done while the program behaves like this. I bought it because I need to create a video that we will need in a few weeks. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could help me resolve these issues.

I tried to uninstall AE and install an older version 18.2.1 - but issues are the same.

OS: Windows Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042

Graphics: Intel UHD Graphics 620

CPU: Intel Core i7 8650U

RAM: 16 GB

Ok I've been in touch with Adobe support. They tried several things without success but finally we ended up installing version 17.0 instead - the oldest version which is still available. This install has been working so far so I'm happy with this solution. I hardly think I'll be needing the newest features.

The guy at adobe support said that the reason it isn't working is because I only have an integrated graphics card. That seems odd since it did work initially and only stopped working the last 2 or 3 weeks.
