Question

Convert gif (created in Ps) to mp4 without loosing soeed

Hello to everyone,

I wonder if someone can help me with this...

I found it quite easy to make my animated compositions in Ps (rather than in Ae) to then upload them to Instagram.
The thing is that Ps only allows me to save those compositions as .gif and this type of file isn't a format accepted by Instagram.

So I must convert those gifs into Mp4 and for that I head to Ae, create a 10 sec. composition, then "Interpret the Footage" and set a loop of 40 (becouse I want the videos to be "looped forever")

Everything looks fine until I import them via Media Encoder to find that the speed of the final product is way slower than the speed of the original gifs.

Any hints on what should I modify or look for to avoid this to happen?

Thank you so much in advance.

Have a nice weekend

Juan

Have you tried the File > Export > Render Video command from Photoshop?

I'm not sure why you would use Photoshop > Gif > AE > Media Encoder

That is a terribly inefficient workflow to begin with, no offense. Why not export from PS as an image sequence or clip right away? This opens up much more options to get exact footage interpretation and also better retains color information. And that kind of likely is the point: Somewhere your framerates get misinterpreted due to your odd workflow. There are simply limitations in dealing with GIFs. I would really suggest you study up on how to export video from PS and use that instead to avoid those problems.

Thanks Mylenium!

Nice slap! Hehe. I appreciate your answer and honesty.
I guess I was being super lazy and that turned out in bad results.

I would then study how it is supposed to be done.

Thank you again, have a great day.
