Question

Crashing when clicking comp

Whenever I click on one particular comp in the project folder... not even double-clicking to open it, just clicking it to highlight it, After Effects does an instant quit... like completely disappears instantaneously fast than a force quit.

Last month I rebuild the comp... but I can't get rid of the old one, because just clicking on it to highlight it to try to . delete it make AE crash.

My new comp now does the same thing.

The comp is part of a huge project with many folders/comps etc so I have to just leave these two "poison" comps alone...

Help! what methads are there to figure out what's wrong? How can I open the comp again without the crash?

Did you or anyone ever solve this?

I never solved it. I just had to avoid the bad comps and move on.

How do you generate a crash report btw?

Issue still not solved for me.

Start by enabling capslock to prevent any sort of evaluation/ rendering. That alone may suffice to allow you to delete the offending stuff.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried that, but the same thing happens... I still can't even highlight the comp, let alone open it. AE closes.

Thanks for the reply... yes, I tried that. The exact same thing happens. I can open other comps, but the one affected comp makes AE close.
