Create Illustrator vectors from After Effects shape layers?

I have some complex shape layers in an After Effects project representing map outlines, how do I export these layers into Illustrator for editing?

I have been supplied the AE project but not the Illustrator file used to make the shape layers.

If the Illustrator document is the same size in pixels as the AE comp size, you can copy the path (easiest if you set a keyframe) and then paste the path into an Illustrator document. You will have to add your own fill and stroke, but that should get the paths in the right spot if the layer has not been moved or scaled.

There's also a script package that more intuitively can exchange data between the two programs. I'm just having a total brain lapse and for the life of it can't remeber the name...

Thank you for this.

It helped me realise that I needed to set a keyframe in each path and then and select those keyframes to copy.

Cheers,
