Create spiral path in 3d space

Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out how to create a spiral in 3d space. Basically what I have tried to do is take the path and the helix in 2d space then change the shape layer to 3D and then adjust the points in side view but it isn't working. Is this possible in After Effects yet? I may just need to do this in Cinema 4D instead. Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure that the vertices of a shape path can't be moved in 3D space.

Usually I do this type of thing in C4D.

If you are trying to make a 3D layer move around something in 3D space though, that can be done since the vertices on a motion path can be moved in 3D.
