Creating a subtle animation to use in custom graphics

Question

I'm a bit of an AE noob, but could not find a good answer on how to accomplish this. I have created it in the video, but using a white circle moving along a path to make it look like the object is being "traced" with that circle. Is there a way to make this work with a layer mask and having that mask object move along this path. So when I export it for use it can be placed on any background?

Thank you for contacting us.From what I understand, you want to use a different shape and export a video with a transparent background. Is that right? You can make the shape you want, animate it, and then use it as a Track/Alpha Matt to cover the object behind it.
