deep glow on text removes the image in the background

Hello, just a heads up I am quite new so please bare with me.

I am trying to create an indent for my friend and was trying to use deep glow to create more depth to the text, however when I add deep glow to the text the image in the background disappears. The first picture with the devil face is how it is meant to look except there is just meant to be deep glow on the text. In the second picture it shows the composition before I add deepglow. In the third picture it shows when I apply the deepglow to the composition and the settings for it. In the fourth picture it shows what happens when I apply deep glow (the devil face emoji is nowhere to be seen in the background).

Every suggestion on how to fix this is appreciated!

Thanks

That's what layer blending modes like Add or Screen are for. And you might want to work on your understanding of the effect itself. After all, it has an "Unmult" option built-in to calculate transparencies based on luminance.
