Does anyone know why I can't import these folders into After Effects?

This issue is pretty self-explanitory: I wanted to simply drag the four folders shown in the project pannel in AE so I can add them to my sequence. Each folder had about four or five MP4s inside. When I dragged them over, however, I was met with the error message shown. I can drag the MP4s over individually, but for some reason it doesn't want me dragging the folders. Would anyone happen to know what the heck is going on?

Hi @nicholash81315590,

By default, After Effects treats folders dragged into the Project panel as folders containing image sequences. In order to import them as folders, you can hold Alt (on Windows) or Option (on Mac) in order to tell After Effects to import the folders as folders of footage instead of as image sequences.

Interesting, I had no idea. I assumed you should be able to just drag and drop folders and they would be imported as folders with whatever is inside. This clears things up—thank you!

This is how it always has worked. Folders in the project window realyl are just a means of keeping the structure organized and beart no relation to the timeline. You have to select the actual assets, not the folder containing them.
