Drag from Photoshop to AE using dual monitors???

Is there a way to drag photoshop files into after effects using a dual monitor setup?  Or for that matter can i drag and drop any layer or file from one adobe app to another using the dual monitor setup?  When i try, for example a PNG in photoshop will make it on over to AE on my main monitor and it pops up an icon that suggests it is ready to paste/place the image into the application but it doesn't seem to want to stick.

It works to some extend across the print / image-centric apps such as Photoshop, illustrator and indesign since they can store data on the fly as embedded TIFFs, paths or actual custom pixel data based on their engines, but even then there are limitations like resolution degrading if DPI doesn't match, color conversions when color management is not aligned and so on. Generally it's just not a good idea unless you really know what you are doing.

Not how AE works. All files must be imported properly. Since AE has no way of creating persistent pixel data, copy & paste or dragging a layer/ selection over cannot work. I suggest you read the online help on basic procedures.

I am wondering if there are any scenarios where a dual monitor configuration would work for any Adobe software as far as importing with a drag from app on screen one and drop into app on screen two what about for example dragging any assets from photoshop on monitor #1 to any other adobe app - i understand it's a no per AE - is this pretty much the same across the cc suite board?
