AE is a tool, nothing more and so are effects. Why would anyone even claim copyright just because you recognizably used an effect? We could have an endless discussion about copyright of presets, templates, fonts, images, stock footage, music and whatever is involved in creating an audio-visual piece, but suffice it to say that once you have legally licensed your software and the contents or created it yourself, nobody is able to claim anything on it. In legal terms it's the simple fact that everything you create is a "derivative", intrinsically belonging to you. Nobody is going to take away your AE work or any such thing if you play by the rules.
