Duplicate Issue

When I try to duplicate two layers, they end up in different order and also the tiny dot in the source name doesn's show.  Why can't the layers duplicate exactly the same?  Can you help me?

The dts before the layer name indicate the track matte relation. the white dot is the matte, the transparent black dot the layer to be matted/ masked.

This is a limitation of the new track matte system you have to get used to. AE simply doesn't know/ doesn't care that it is supposed to duplicate the layers in pairs of two like with the old method. This is a frequent complaint, so I would expect that in an upcoming update we may get an option to make this smarter. For the time being just accept it and adjust your workflow accordingly.

Thank you for your quick reply once again.  Can you explain to me what the dot is?  How can I get the dot to show in the duplicate?
