Dynamic link bug solved!

Like many of you, I had a problem with Dynamic Link in After Effect since version 2023. Quite annoying, as it controls things like warp stabilizer, camera tracker, Media Encoder exporter and many more functions. And they were no longer available.

After having tried ALL possible solutions, I was helped online and on the phone by a brilliant Adobe technician (Hitesh is his name). And he finally solved the problem by deleting the MediaCore file situated in Application Support/Adobe/Common. Maybe this solution doesn't work in all case (I'm on a M1 Mac) but it did in my particular case.

@martinirosso Did you happen to see what the contents of the MediaCore folder were before you deleted it (perhaps it's still in your trash)? This sounds like a plugin of some sort was blocking your DL connections and it would be very helpful for us (and other users) to know which one it was.

Thx!

In my particular case, the MediaCore folder contained only shared Maxon One plugins (this folder allows to keep some plugins installed, no matter what AE version you install).

Before deleting it, the Adobe tech guy made a copy of this folder on the desktop, just in case. But it all worked and I could trash it. Obviously I had to reinstall Maxon One plugins, but it didn't take long.

This operation worked on my M1 Mac, however, if you try do do the same alone, it's at your own risk (the worst case scenario is that you have to reinstall AE, the world will not explode 😉  By the way, even if he said that AE 2023.4 would work, he advised me to remain on 2023.3, because it's a more stable AE version.

One other step he took was to rename some files, adding ''.old'' after the name. This process has been explained in several threads. Seach for it. But I tried this before his intervension and it didn't suffice in itself, without the trashing MediaCore trick.

Anyway, better solution in my opinion, if you have an Adobe Cloud subscription, is to ask them for help. I was surprised how reactive they were.

Good luck!

Thanks for this insight, @martinirosso! Since this isn't a bug report, I've moved it from the Bugs section to Discussions.

Cheers,
