Question

Dynamic Link not working with 3D Tracker Camera

Within my Premiere Pro (13.1) project I created a dynamic link with one of the clips by using, "Replace with After Effects Composition." The text I added within After Effects (16.1.2) made use of the Track Camera setting and attached the text to a wall using track points. To view the text in After Effects, I had to switch my camera to the 3D Tracker Camera from the Active Camera. It appears that Dynamic Link is not letting me see what the 3D Tracker Camera is seeing within Premiere, does anyone have any solutions to this problem?

I sense a workflow error. The Tracker Camera is the only useful camera you have in a comp when you perform Camera Tracking. There should be no other cameras in the composition. The active camera view is the only view that will render. Without seeing your comp or having a complete workflow description it's hard to say what is going on.

If the AE comp is at all complex I would strongly recommend that you render the comp and replace the linked comp in Premiere Pro with the rendered footage. Premiere Pro will be much more responsive and the chance of a rendering problem down the line will be greatly reduced. Dynamic Link is only really useful with very simple comps that render very quickly. I use it all the time to bring in the footage and create a comp but I usually return to Premiere Pro immediately, undo that action, then finish the work in AE, render a production quality DI and drop it just above the original shot in Premiere Pro.
