Dynamically link one AE project into another?

I am looking for a way to dynamically link one AE project into another and amazed that I have not found a decent solution yet.

Example scanrio: My team is working on a LARGE set of web banners. I want to be able to create a set of "master" animations in one AE project. I then want everyone on my team to be able to import this project into their own projects (with layouts for many applications). The rub here is that I need to be able to update the animations in my master file and have them be dynamically updated in their projects without the need for them to re-import and replace every instance of those animations in every layout.

Any suggestions on native or plugin solutions that would accompish this? I tried using a plugin called BAO Dynamic Link but it is not intuitive at all and seems to work a bit backward (master layout needs to be created first and then dynamic comps get exported from that).
