Easiest way/effect to animate firework vectors in AE?

Also, do I have to rename and separate every layers of an illustrator art to animate in AE, always? Here's the art:

Anything you want to animate in AE needs to be on a separate layer in Illustrator.  It's not mandatory to re-name the layers in Illustrator, but it REALLY helps cut down on the confsuion in AE, and it's dead simple to do in Illustrator.
