Edit Text Shortcut

Hello,

I have a bunch of text layers that I want to edit quickly using keyboard shortcuts (SC). When editing Ctrl+Enter confirms and closes the text edit and I can move to the next one. Is there any SC to enter text edit mode, instead of double-clicking the text box or the layer in the timeline? Using the pointer to a relevant location and using any script or feautre of keyboard-controlled mouse double-click isn't relevant (tried it) because I'm trying to avoid reaching the mouse. There is nothing relevant in the long SC editor's list, but this feature exist in, I think, every other Adobe tool (either the same or different SC).

How can I solve this?

Thanks.

Unfortunately not. That's the old limitation of AE not having any genuine layer navigation because everything is based on the context of how it's represented in the UI and comp viewer, not the underlying structure and the font engine is it's own thing, anyway.

Unfortunately no BUT this distinction for a Text Layer being in edit mode allows for many more shortcut keys to be available when a Text Layer is in edit mode. If you look at the related Commands/Shortcuts in the Keyboard Shortcuts Visualizer, you will notice commands such as Text Alignment (Right, Left Center), I have SHIFT+CTRL+C which is off course the shortcut preCompose selected layer(s) but when in Text Edit mode AE allows a user to use these otherwise reserved shortcuts. Regardless, you can put in a user request to see if it can be implemented.

Understood, I might put a request. Thanks!

There is a Command to Create New Text Layer which I have a shortcut - in your request you may want to suggest that this Command be also used as a Command for Edit Selected Text Layer if a Text Layer is currently selected. This should make it easier to code on the AE side. HTH

Didn't get what the "UI content representation" means... that AE doesn't recognize that a selected layer is a text layer until I double-click it and there's text inside? (I just tried an existing text SC and it actually didn't work without selecting the text itself, so it looks like it).
