IS there a way to edit/delete output modules outside of after effects?  I have some older ones in my list that any time I select them in AE (CC2019), it crashesthe program.  I just want to delete them.

Thanks,
Scott

Go to the Edit menu > Templates > Output Module. In the Settings section of this dialog, select the template you want to delete and press the Delete button.

If that doesn't work, you can delete the entire output module preferences file. Go to:

Windows: Edit menu > Preferences > General, then click on the Reveal Preferences in Explorer button.

Mac: After Effects CC menu > Preferences > General, then click on the Reveal Preferences in Finder button.

This opens the preferences folder for the current user. Quit After Effects.

Delete the Adobe After Effects 16.0 Prefs-indep-output.txt file from that folder.

Restart After Effects. Your output module preferences will be reset to the defaults and After Effects will write a new copy of the Adobe After Effects 16.0 Prefs-indep-output.txt file.

Tim, that i the problem, when I try to select the preset I want to delete, it immediately crashes the app, so I don't get a change to delete.  When I load them from backup, same thing happens.  The problem is I have about 20 output models presets I really don't want to rebuild from scratch.  Basically the ones that are crashing the app are QuickTime where the codec no longer works in AE (32bit).

If you want to try to preserve the rest of your output module presets, you can try modifying Adobe After Effects 16.0 Prefs-indep-output.txt file manually. Much of the information is binary encoded and is not human-readable or really editable, but at a minimum you can try deleting all of the references to the outdated modules.

Worst-case scenario is to delete that file and let After Effects rebuild it, then recreate your custom presets.
