Question

Effects do not work when layer is pre-composed

Hi,
I'm currently experiencing an issue where the effects I apply inside a pre-composed layer do not appear when in main composition.

To clarify:

  • I am applying "venetian blinds" and "Glow" to a small portion of a pre-composed layer which is part of a larger composition.
  • When I pre-render the larger composition the effects I applied to the pre-composed layer do not render. They only appear when I am working within the pre-composed layer.

Can anyone provide insight?

Thank you,

B

My first guess is that you have the C4D or Ray-traced rendering engine selected and the effect is on a 3D layer. Both of those rendering engines disable effects. There is a warning as soon as you choose one of those options.

Your screenshots are not very helpful. Better screenshots would show the modified properties of the layer giving you problems, the one with the graphic that looks like a propane bottle with diagonal lines applies selected, then press e then shift + uu to reveal the modified properties of that layer, then do the same after you pre-compose. That will tell us what workflow problem you have made and eliminate guessing.
