Empty Disk Cache vs. Clean Database & Cache

Hello,

Which of these should I delete daily, and which one should I keep (or delete weekly?) because I don't want to alway re render my After Effects timeline... but I'd like to keep things clean and performing well.

 

What do you pros do with both of those, while working on a big project?

    You don't necessarily need to purge unless your running out of space or running into caching issues. 


    Clearing Memory is the least invasive, it just clears your Ram if you're running out.
    Clearing Disk Cache should remove any cached frames / effects.

    Clearing Media Database should store any import info needed to read / playback certain file types.

    Hi, not worried about ram, got 32gb...

     

    The 2nd one, Disk Cache, I have it at 500gb, but starts to run low in 2 days, so I wipe that every 2.  

     

    The 3rd one, Media Database,  should I leave that alone?  Does that section fill up? I was wiping that one when I wiped the Disk Cache, and maybe it's not needed to wipe that one every 2 days?  Holds import data?  So if I'm working on the same few projects/ comps and not doing any new imports, safe to leave it alone? or ?

    Depends on the type of footage you're using. Some requires more media cache than others, but I'd just direct it to a separate folder from your Disk Cache so you can monitor how much space it's taking up and then wipe it when you need to. Just know that once you do, your projects may take a bit to create new cache files before you can start working with the footage again. Again, all depends on the format / codecs.
