ERRO AFTER EFFECTS 2025

Thanks for getting and sharing the details. Uncheck the "Photoshop Sequence" in the import dialogue box. Check out the screenshot for reference.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hi HeloKaminski,

As I can understand, you're not able to import a layered PSD in After Effects. Is that correct? Is it happening with multiple PSD files? Do you mind sharing the PSD for testing? Feel free to share via DM if you prefer not to share publicly.

The issue about the animation composer - is it the third-party plug-in you're referring to? Are there any error messages?

Let me know. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Nishu, thank you for your reply.

I uninstalled both After Effects and Animation Composer, reinstalled everything, and the plugin is now working fine again. The issue is that After Effects no longer imports Photoshop files as layers, only as footage.

I’m importing one file at a time and have tested with several different PSDs. I even saved a test file with just a couple of layers, but it still didn’t work. I also uninstalled the entire Adobe Creative Cloud and reinstalled from scratch, but nothing changed.

The only way it works is by exporting from Photoshop using Layers to Files, but that creates multiple PSDs (one per layer), which really complicates the workflow.

Previously, a message suggested that the issue could be related to a plugin, but there were no third-party plugins installed at the time. The only plugin I use is Animation Composer, which has always worked properly without causing issues.

Everything is up to date, and I’ve also tried using different versions of Photoshop and After Effects, but the problem persists.

I’ve attached one of the PSD files for you to check, but none of them work. I even tried saving it again in a new file and nothing helps. I’ve always created the layouts this way and it used to work fine.
