I'm in After Effects CC 2018 and I'm trying to import video files but it doesn't let me, it gives this error:

The .avi format has always worked for me before. I've also tried changing the file format to .mp4 and .mov but none of them worked either.

SOMEONE PLS HELP ME

avi is only a container. There is many codecs that canbe use to compress file as AVI and not every codec inside avi is supported in AE so that can be the issue. It can be also as ToolfarmJP said - it can be because just that file is corrupted.
As for changing name from avi to mp4 - that does not work (ok sometimes it works but in werry specific situations and with specific formats) like that. If you wish to check if that file (avi) will work as mp4 you have to import that file to some file converter (f. eg. Adobe Media Encoder) and you have to convert it from AVI to mp4. Just changing name extension - does not do anything.

Hello,

Could you play the file by VLC player or other players? If you can not play it, the file is corrupted.
