Error: Couldn't find main entry point DXV3AfterEffectsExport

Hi there,

I'm getting this error when opening After Effects. I have tried removing and installing the app, and it didn't work.

Any thoughts? I'm running Windows 10, with the latest AE updates. If there's any specs that can be useful, let me know.

"After Effects error: Couldn't find main entry point DXV3AfterEffectsExport.aex

( 48 :: 72 )"

Thanks in advance.

Hi andresgodinho,

Thanks for trying to troubleshoot this on your own.

I'd suggest that you create a new user account with administrator privileges and see if After Effects launches without the error.

Hope this helps.

Hi there RameezKhan. Thanks for helping.

This was a good tip, because in the other user I got a more specific error related to a Resolume (VJ software) plugin I have installed. I'm guessing it's something on their side. I already posted on their forum, I think they have a problem with the latest After Effects version.

Thanks anyways!

Olá, tudo bem?
No meu caso resolveu excluindo a pasta que fica dentro de plugins na pasta da adobe/common/plugins/7.0/mediacore
e exclui a pasta resolume de dentro. Resolveu o problema.

Isn't there any remaining resolume plug-in left?

I had the same problem.

Program Files - Adobe - Common - Plugins
If you follow this path, there are still resolume files left.

If you erase these files, the problem will be solved.

try to remove all third party plugin so may this error come from third party plugin.

also if you want to uninstall and re-install AE be sure to use Adobe Cleaner tool to be sure you remove all related file to AE

Thanks. Used Adobe Cleaner Tool. Then also deleted all folders related to After Effects, in Program Files.

Still getting the error. Maybe i'll need to do a thorough deep clean to get this to go away?

Entry point errors indicate missing DLLs or broken device drivers, so start by checking your device manager and update your drivers as well as verifying that e.g. the MSVC runtimes are installed correctly.

Hi there, thanks for the quick response! I forgot to mention that After Effects opens after this error. I think everything works, but it's kind of annoying to have this error every time.

I've tried the following:

- Checked device manager, no drivers have errors, apparently.

- Repaired MS Visual C++ installations using Windows' App Settings

- Ran Windows Update

- Restarted PC

Still getting the error. Any ideas?
