Question

Exotic fonts - type- text display incorrectly

Working on an international project involving many languages I have found that the more exotic languages are displaying incorrectly.

I am cutting and pasting from either word docs, excel docs, pdfs or numbers docs into text boxes in AE.

Laguages like Thai, (Tibetan) Dzongkha, (Sri Lanka) Tamil or Sinhala and Hindi are getting mangled within AE.   Glyphs are incorrect, spaces are added or taken away randomly, Glyphs are added or changed.

I have dug DEEP into the prefs of both AE and my system.  I have tried almost every Noto font or suggested font available to me.  I have meticulously clicked on and off every Kerning, spacing or text option within the toolset of AE.   Sometimes Kerning fixes some things but not all.   Fonts of course either look very close or not at all.  The kicker is Photoshop and Illustrator seem to be ok with cutting and pasting these troublesome texts but any of you AE pros knows how frustrating it is to have to move outside AE to create text layers to be animated back in AE.    Any insight or thoughts on this would be a tremendous helpto solving this mystery.  Anyone from ADOBE listening would be highly praised for setting me straight on what I am missing and how to get this problem sorted out.

If it matters I am using a MAC latest OS and AE 17.1.4

Thanks in advance to anyone listening.

No mystery to solve and nothing to fix. AE uses a completely different text engine that to this date doesn't fully support all OpenType/ Unicode features. It's as trivial as that. There are no magic hidden buttons anywhere. Indeed you have to do it the hard way by importing prefabricated graphics.

Thanks for the info Mylenium.  Here's to hoping ADOBE looks into this someday.
