Hello,

I have a After Effects project that consist of simple 3D animation.  My client wants to use the 3D animation in ARTkit (apple iOS). The programmer asked for the animation in a .dae file. Can I do this in After Effects?

I found  information on importing 3d objects INTO After Effects, but I can't seem to find much on EXPORTING 3D files in After Effects - especially in the .dae format.

Any advice? I did see a one plug in via google search but it was only supported by Windows.

Thanks y'all,

Jesse

Getting animation from AE to developers is usually done via Bodymovin and Lottie. See if those tools offer any use to your workflow.

AE does not generate genuine 3D geometry, so there is basically nothing to export beyond transform information. You are probably wasting your time therefore - none of your actual layer content will come across. If the plug-ins/ scripts don't do it for you, you could try exporting your items via Cineware to a C4D scene and export a DAE from there, but I have no idea how well that even might work, as I'm pretty sure this ARKit stuff has specific requirements how the scenes need to be set up.
