Export does not match same frame from file

Never experienced this before. My exported video does not match frame to frame the file that created it.

2D animations, multiple layers. 1K animation file is fine, but after I replaced those layers with 4K elements, my rendered video does not match frame to frame the file that produced it. If I start with a clean file and import the same 4K element, export it and compare, it is fine, animation matches frame to frame. Any idea what I screwed up or am not seeing?

Dropbox, Google Drive. I share AEP files all the time, but I keep them small. If there are assets involved you'll need to use the File/Dependencies menu to collect the files and save them to a folder that you can Zip up.

 

If you have a lot of projects to scale up you should head over to AEScripts.com and look for their comp resizer. Don't have time to look for it for you right now. 

 

If the comp is fairly simple there is a comp resizer that will work on one comp at a time in the File/Scripts/Demo Pallet menu that you can use to scale up comps. It should work with your project but you'll have to be careful to dig through all of the nested comps.

My first guess is that you customized either the composition frame size, pixel aspect ratio, or the render settings. Without workflow details and screenshots it is pretty hard to say. Video always has to be an even number of pixels high and wide if it is going to be compressed for distribution on common platforms like YouTube and Vimeo. That's just how compression works and there is nothing you can do about it. All video for the web, in fact, 99.9% of all video you render for sharing or distribution should be a standard frame size and a standard frame rate. Unless you have a really good understanding of standards, formats, and compression technology, you should only be using the presets for comp size and frame rate and for render settings.

Hi Rick,

 

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to look into this.

 

Here are the two Ae files:

1K_LowRez.aep renders out fine. Video export of animation matches Ae file frame for frame.

 

Final_4K.aep does not match. Video export of animation does not match Ae file frame for frame.

 

I am reconverting the 1K Ae file to 4K, repeating what I did before, and testing along the way. So far, I have replace all the layers with 4K and it renders out fine, so I do not know what I did in the 4K file to mess that up.

Though, I still have another problem you tried to address in another post about how to scale the 1K element and roto x,y moves to 4K. If they where simple two keyframe events it would be easy, but of course there are multiple keyframes for the images as well as the rotos. Thanks again for looking into this.
