Question

Export Text Layer Flickering

Animated text flickers when exported. I am using Adobe After Effects (Beta) version 26.3

I have 7 different text layers appearing in this animation, when I export it the text that is on the top of the screen flicker. I am exporting these and uploading the export to a Premiere Pro project and that’s where I first noticed the flicker.

I tried exporting it in .mov and h.264 but both of those are giving me the same result. And when I open the export outside of Premiere Pro I still see the word flickering.

At first the word that was flickering was the “HOME”, but once I exported a couple different times not changing anything about the export settings, then the word “HOME” stopped flickering and the word “THE” started to flicker. Now I can’t export without one of those words flickering.

I’ve added a link for reference:

Also just wanted to mention this isn’t the first time I have this issue. I’ve had this issue in different projects that had a text layer involved. In past projects the first export turns out perfect, but when I have to go back and change something minor and export again the issue appears.

To reproduce this:

- Create multiple text layers (with 2 distinct fonts, one thin and one bold)
- Create different position keyframes (some words going left to right, others going down), make sure the bolder text layer starts to show as its going through the thinner text layers)
- Create opacity keyframes
- Add Artlist.io drop shadow
- Change the drop shadow color to white

I FOUND THE ISSUE:

The arlist.io drop shadow effect was creating this issue. I exported without the effect and the export turned out perfect!

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in and updating the thread with the solution.

Do you mind letting us know more about it? Is it a third-party drop shadow effect or the one that comes with After Effects? If it's the native effect, do you mind sharing the project file? I'd like to investigate it further.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

no problem! It is a third-party drop shadow effect from Artlist.io

https://artlist.io/tools

It’s part of their professional plug-ins.
