trying to export an AE file to an MP4 and the Youtube videos aren't working. Any ideas?

H.264 - the YouTube standard for submitting videos was enabled in AE 2023. Before that version, you must use the Adobe Media Encoder. 

 

If you are still having problems, we need system, os, and AE version details and a detailed workflow and rendering desription.

You need to be much more specific and provide exact info about your system your project, render settings and so on. Just saying that it doesn't work is not in any way useful.
