Question

Exported rendered slightly washed out colours

If I import a PNG into my project, do nothing and export a render, the result is a very slightly washed out version of the PNG I imported. What can I do to make it so that the export colors are the same as the original?

I have tried:

1. Embedding the color profile with the PNG

2. Setting the color workspace of the project to NONE

3. Setting the color workspace of the project to Adobe 1998

I realise different media players render colors differently, but all social media applications are rendering the colors of the export slightly more washed out than the original.

What can I do?

Read up un how to actually use color manegment and then set it up correctly by calibrating your monitor, setting the proof previews in the programs and so on. None of what you have done so far bears any relevance on actual CM. Arbitrarily setting profiles somewhere isn't it. that and of course there could be other reasons like AE's hardware acceleration having issues and skewing colors inside the app or working in 32bpc not translating well to 8bpc outputs like PNG (without proper color management at least). anyway, you haven't provided much to go by like actual screenshots, proper system information, details about settings and so on, so we can't really tell you where the problem is.
