Exposure masking and tracking?

I often shoot real estate videos and struggle with blown-out highlights from windows during editing. I recently saw a video with perfectly exposed interiors and windows—here's the link, check out 0:33: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRaVZ0LUKLw

I’d love to replicate that effect. I suspect they used a slider and shot two takes: one for the interior and one for the windows. My challenge is blending those clips together. I’m not very experienced with After Effects, but I think an exposure mask and tracking might work. Any suggestions?
