When After Effects crashes, it saves the crash logs on your computer. The crash logs store relevant information that can help in troubleshooting the issue. Having a copy ready for technical support can lead to a quicker resolution.

Follow these steps to find After Effects crash logs:

Windows

  1. Open Windows Explorer by pressing the Windows+E keys.
  2. Unhide hidden folders by following these instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files
  3. Navigate to the following folder to collect the crash log

          OS:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\22.5\logs

[NOTE: <username> is your Windows user name]

22.5 refers to After Effects 2022. If you're using a different version of After Effects, you have to check the corresponding folder for that version. For example, the crash log for After Effects 2020 is stored in the 17.0 folder.

macOS
