If you're running into a problem where After Effects displays a message on the Composition panel that says Display Acceleration Disabled, follow the suggestions given in this post to fix the problem.

macOS:
• Make sure your MacBook is connected to the power source
• Go to Preferences > Display and toggle Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels
• Go to Preferences > Video Preview and toggle Enable Mercury Transmit

Windows:
• Update the on-board and dedicated graphics drivers of the computer. If this happens after updating the graphics driver, reinstall the previous version of the driver

NOTE: Nvidia driver version 442.92 seems to cause this problem on many systems. If you have installed this driver, please reinstall the previous version

• If your computer has Nvidia graphics, make sure to update the GeForce Experience software as well
• Go to Preferences > Display and toggle Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels
• Go to Preferences > Video Preview and toggle Enable Mercury Transmit

If none of the steps given above help, obtain the System Information file (.NFO) and After Effects logs from your system and share them with us. Here is how you can do that:

Log files:

  • Launch After Effects and go to Help > Enable Logging.
  • Work in After Effects for a few minutes.
  • Then go to Help > Reveal Logging File.

System Info:

macOS:
Follow the steps given in this article: https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT203001

Windows:
1. Hold the Windows key and press R to open the Run window
2. Type msinfo32 and click OK
3. From the System Information window, go to File > Save
4. Save the file as .NFO

After collecting both the files, upload them to Adobe Creative Cloud Files by following the steps given in this article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/share.html) and share the URL in the comments section below.

We talked to you about this problem on 2022 10 28 and haven't heard from you since. due to this issue, our productions suffered in many ways whiteout being able to use the software properly. I'm happy to see that the problem has finally been rectified. However, delays of this nature coming from a corporation like Adobe do not look good. NVIDIA 2023 01 05 New Driver Version Update fixed the issue.
I would appreciate it if you could perform careful testing before releasing new versions in the future.

Hi guys, it's 2022, this problem is apparently recurring almost every single version of After Effects that comes out. I found the solution and the reason of the problem and it's so 'face palm' material you'd think corporations would think about this.

The issue stems from the disconnect between graphics drivers and After Effects updates. Basically, you need both AE and Graphics drivers to 'sync' over the year. General rule of thumb is NOT to update Premiere and After Effects for at least a few months until things 'smooth' out because you get stupid issues like this, every... damn... year.

Observe:

After Effects 2022 (22.6)

After Effects 2023 (23.0)

I have Geforce 3060 Laptop GPU. I have both AE installed and only 2022 work with graphic acceleration. 2023, I have the annoying Display Acceleration Disabled issue which means I can't playback properly, slow rendering, even slower updates to the viewport sometimes the viewport doesn't update. That's because it's defaulting to 'Software' instead of GPU.

Solution:

- Updating your graphics driver is generally fine but what you should do is roll back your After Effects to the previous version and stick with it until the stupid bug is fixed. This is mine.

- Some people get this issue because Adobe CC automatically updates After Effects for you leaving you with issues between Premiere and After Effects which equals sadness. Make sure Auto Update is disabled.

I shall receive all thanks and gratitudes in 'You rock' or equivalent praises.

Hi

I did my best to troubleshoot using the above-mentioned prompts, but I was unable to enable Display Acceleration. I was also unable to access the Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panel>. I've also included a link to the.NFO file below. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon!

Yes, sorry. Of course it was solved, sorry for the delay in answering. I
forgot due to work and day to day issues but everything is fine. The
updates have worked, I had a problem with the AE and Encoder 23.1 update
but I am using the previous one for now, I hope it will be solved soon.
Thank you for being vigilant, I appreciate it very much.
