Files Missing, After Effects Autosave folder not being found

So I had this problem a while back, and I am having it again. I recently lost a lot of folders and files and cannot find them in my finder (I am running MacOS Catalina). They have vanished. Another thing is that After effects lost a ton of files that were in a project and is acting up. I have to manually save my project for the after effects autosave folder to even pop up... All of my past renders are missing as well... Any solution? Something I'm doing wrong? I am a beginner at this.

Nothing to do with AE I would say. Your OS is acting up. Either the AFS+ journaling is defunct and your files disappear because the safety backup data is not generated or you have a fundamental permissions issue. Both scenarios are not unlikely from what I read recently (not a Mac guy). In any case, an excursion to your disk Utility is the place to start and then you may need to get into some real deep stuff involving the terminal to reconstruct files. But that's info on which you get better advice on Mac nerd forums.
